Aldrich added to Team USA coaching staff for Tokyo Olympics

Gary Aldrich, a 1983 Slippery Rock University graduate with a degree in physical education, was recently named an assistant coach for the U.S. men's track and field team for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Aldrich, who is the head coach of the Carnegie Mellon University men's and women's track and field teams, will serve as the throws coach for Team USA, coaching athletes in the shot put, discus, javelin and hammer throw events.

Aldrich previously coached Team USA at a variety of international events, including the 2017 World Outdoor Championships in London, England; the 2016 World Indoor Championships in Portland, Oregon; and the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto.
