A team of three students representing Slippery Rock University placed third at the Institute of Internal Auditors and Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants Fall Case/Presentation Contest.

The SRU team, comprised of four students from an Auditing class taught by Theresa Phipps, associate professor of accounting, economics and finance, included Ashley Bakalarski, a senior accounting major from Pittsburgh; Christopher Galbraith, a senior accounting major from Gibsonia; and Morgan Weeter, a senior political science major from Lower Burrell.

Teams from colleges and universities in the Pittsburgh region were provided a case study about conducting a company audit for a client. Teams submitted papers to the IIA/PICPA review committee, which selected six finalists who then presented in front of the review committee. The SRU team received a $600 cash prize for its third-place finish.
