Student Accounts

The Office of Student Accounts is responsible for tuition assessment, invoicing of charges, accepting payments, disbursing aid released from Financial Aid, and collections management.

Tuition is invoiced on a per semester basis for Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer terms. Initial invoices for each term are sent mid-month in the months of July (Fall), November (Winter), December (Spring) and May (Summer). All statements are available on the billing portal for students and Authorized Users.

Billing

All statements will be available on the mySRU portal, each term is billed separately.

1st Bill issued one month before term begins (Jul / Dec)
1st Due Date is right before the term begins (Aug / Jan)
All bills are electronic and are available 24/7 in the portal for students and Authorized Users
All students and Authorized Users get notified of a new bill via email
$15 late fee for all payments not received by due date

In your mySRU student portal, go to the Student Billing Information card, then View or Pay Bill.

To view itemized account activity details, go to the Student Billing Information card, then View or Pay Bill, then click View Activity.

By accepting admission to the University, the student has agreed to pay the fees and charges assessed by the University. Invoices must be paid in full by the due date shown on the billing statement or enroll in a payment plan. Students cannot enroll in classes, graduate from the University or receive transcripts of coursework taken while at the University until all fees have been paid.

HOLDS

A hold will be put on a student account if there in an unpaid balance. This will prevent future registration as well as release of diploma. If you have an unpaid balance, please connect with our office to resolve this hold.

PAYMENTS

TouchNet is the university's online payment system. Students and Authorized Users receive email notification when new billing statements are generated. Upon receipt of the email, students may view/print their current statement or review current activity and adjustments on their account.

TouchNet allows students to:

Pay their bills 24/7 and confirm payment immediately
Enroll in a Payment Plan
Generate an OnDemand Statement
Authorize Payers (parents, guardians, sponsors) to pay bill through their own login account in the payment portal. Once an authorized user establishes an account, they can use this link to login.

TouchNet Payment Methods:

Electronic check/ACH from Checking or Savings Account:
This is a free service and is the fastest/most cost-effective way to pay the bill. All payment data is encrypted within the system.
Credit Card:
Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover (A non-refundable convenience fee will be assessed by our vendor for credit card payments)

Payments can be made by check or money order. DO NOT mail cash.

RETURNED CHECK FEE

Senders of checks that are not acceptable to the bank for any reason will be charged a fee in the amount of $30. An accounting hold will be placed on the student's records and the schedule will be subject to cancellation if the check is not cleared.

SCHOLARSHIPS, GRANTS and LOANS

The financial aid listed on your billing statement is tentative and is subject to change based upon eligibility requirements and enrollment status. If you are receiving a private grant, it will not be reflected as a credit on your account until the funds are actually received by the Office of Student Accounts. If you are borrowing a Federal loan, you have the right to cancel the loans if you choose. To cancel the loan, contact the Office of Financial Aid.

PAYMENT PLANS

SRU offers a number of payment plan options for each semester billing.

A fee of $40 will be charged for enrollment in a plan, but there are no interest fees.
Any missed payment due date will incur a $15 late fee.
The first installment on the payment plan will be due at time of enrollment.
Enroll on or before the semester due date to avoid a late fee.

To enroll or view the plan options, log in to your mySRU portal, find the Student Billing Information card, then click "Pay or View Bill“, then "Pay Bill". Once in the billing portal, click the 'Enroll in Payment Plan' option to review and select a payment plan.

If your financial aid is not approved, you must enroll in a payment plan. Please complete all Financial Aid requirements through your portal.

Winter Billing Statements

Due 12/11/2026
Because the Winter session is shorter, payment plans are not available for Winter charges. However, if you are also registered for the Spring semester, any outstanding Winter balance can be included in your Spring payment plan. Spring payment plans will be available for enrollment once Spring billing is generated in mid-December. When you enroll, your payment plan will automatically include both your Winter session and Spring semester balances.

DEFERRED BILLING

SRU offers deferred billing agreements for students whose employers offer tuition reimbursement. This usually applies to students who are working full time and attending SRU part time. Using a deferred billing agreement allows the student to pay only 20% of their balance at the start of the term, while deferring the balance that the employer verifies they will cover until 30 days after the end of each term. This provides the student additional time to prove course completion and submit the reimbursement request to their employer for payment. A new deferred billing agreement must be completed before the start of each term.

To enroll in a Deferred Billing Agreement, log into mySRU and go to the Student Billing Information card, then click on Deferred Billing Agreement.

REFUNDS & POLICIES

REFUNDS

Prior to the start of each term, refunds will be processed once aid is disbursed to the students’ accounts. During the term, refunds are processed weekly.

Refunds are sent via paper check to the permanent home address on file. To add direct deposit to your account for faster refunds, students must complete a direct deposit eRefund profile in their mySRU billing portal.

The best way to add direct deposit or check the status of your refund:

Log in to mySRU student portal > Student Billing Information > View or Pay Bill
To add an eRefund profile, click "Refunds" on the menu.
If you expect a refund and see a negative balance, your refund has not yet initiated. Refunds will not initiate until aid has disbursed to your account. If aid is still just “anticipated”, it will not refund.
A line item that says “RFND Refund” with a date, indicates that a refund has initiated.

Please allow 7-10 business days for a check refund to arrive via mail, 2-3 business days for direct deposit.

WITHDRAWALS

Mid semester University withdrawals may not result in a refund of tuition & fees. Any credit of tuition and fees is based on the withdrawal date established. It is important to understand any financial implications when making a decision on withdrawal. Financial Aid, scholarships and withdrawal dates are important factors. Please consult with a Success Coach in coordination with our office to fully understand your financial obligations. The Office of Student Accounts issues refunds and adjusts charges according to the refund policy mandated by the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.

The Office of Student Accounts initiates the 1098-T form for tax purposes. In order for SRU to prepare a 1098-T Form for each student, the student must provide a W9S form if requested.

IF THERE ARE CHANGES TO MY ACCOUNT AFTER THE INITIAL BILLING STATEMENT IS ISSUED, HOW DO I SEE THOSE UPDATES?

The "View On Demand Statement" button in the billing portal will take you to an updated view of all itemized transactions on the account. Once your changes are completed (meal plan charges, financial aid, scholarship changes, etc.), they will appear in this On Demand view.

If you make a meal plan selection and are waiting to see that update, please allow 1 business day for those charges to appear in your On Demand Statement.

IF I DON'T SEE FINANCIAL AID OR SRU SCHOLARSHIPS ON MY BILLING STATEMENT, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

If you expect specific loans, grants or scholarships to appear on your billing statement and they are not shown, please connect with the Financial Aid office at financial.aid@sru.edu or 724.738.2044 to see if any further steps are necessary for that aid to appear on your statement.

Outside scholarships (from community organizations, high schools, etc.) will appear on your account once payment is received from the outside scholarship organization.

AS A PARENT OR GUARDIAN, CAN I HAVE ACCESS TO THE BILLING PORTAL FOR MY STUDENT?

Yes, if your student adds you as an Authorized User, you will receive your own log in to the billing portal and will receive the same billing email notifications when new statements are generated. Your student should log into mySRU and go to Student Billing Information, then click on Add Authorized User and follow the prompts.

WILL I RECEIVE A BILL IN THE MAIL?

SRU uses exclusively paperless billing, so students should expect an email notification to their SRU email when billing statements are available in their mySRU billing portal. Authorized Users will also receive email notification and portal access.

IS THERE A WAY TO AVOID THE CREDIT CARD PROCESSING FEE WHEN PAYING A BILL?

The electronic check payment method does not assess a processing fee, so if you are able to use that method instead of a credit card, the processing fee can be avoided. Electronic check can be set up for either a checking or savings account in the secure billing portal.

WILL I BE CHARGED FOR AN INTERNSHIP?

Yes, internships that are registered for credits will be billed according to the current tuition and fee schedule. Watch for a billing notice in your mySRU billing portal for the term you're registered to complete your internship.

MY STUDENT QUALIFIES FOR AN SRU EMPLOYEE TUITION WAIVER BUT IT'S NOT SHOWING IN THE BILLING PORTAL. WHAT DO I DO?

Submit the Tuition Waiver form to HR for their review. They will forward on to our office to apply to the student account. Please allow one week then view your On Demand Statement in your billing portal to check for the update. If you still don't see the waiver applied, please connect with our office to check on the status.
