Ivory Dunlap attended SRU as an undergraduate from 1991-94 and later earned her master’s degree in student affairs in higher education in 2013.

Before joining Slippery Rock, Dunlap worked 14 years at Butler County Community College in a variety of positions, most recently as an associate professor and an academic counselor and retention specialist in BC3’s Academic Center for Enrichment in the Student Success Center. She was the first Black tenured professor at BC3, where she taught college success skills and human diversity, and was a course coordinator.

She also comes from a family that has broken racial barriers. Dunlap’s great grandfather, Clarence Dunlap, co-founded Black and White Express Trucking, the first Black-owned business in Butler, and her grandfather, Walter J. Dunlap, was the first Black trustee at BC3.

Her background also includes experiences working with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. After completing her associate degree from BC3 in 1996 and while earning her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from La Roche College in 2005, Dunlap worked as a systems advocate for the Victim Outreach Intervention Center in Butler for five years. She joined BC3 in 2007 as the student facilitator for the Keystone Education Yields Program and later briefly served as the school’s disabilities coordinator.

In her spare time, Ivory enjoys cooking, spending time with friends, and her beloved nephew CJ.

Kristin has a B.A. in communication and media studies from Penn State Erie, The Behrend College and a M.A. in Counseling, with an emphasis in higher education from Edinboro Universty of Pennsylvania. She got her start in career education and loves to help students develop leadership skills and figure out how their interests and strengths can be used after college. As a first-generation college student, she is also passionate about student persistence and working with students to overcome the barriers they may face when transitioning to college.

In her personal life, she loves to do anything crafty and attempt home improvement projects. She lives in Franklin with her husband and two sons.

Ky has a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Youngstown State University, a M.A. in Criminal Justice from Slippery Rock, and a M.S.Ed in Special Education with a focus in Autism from Youngstown State University. She started her career in education working in the behavioral health field working 1:1 with clients in the school, home, and community to better their social/emotional skills across all settings. Ky’s passion in this field led her to begin substituting in the special education setting until she obtained her M.S.Ed in special education. She currently made the transition to higher education where she hopes to use the skills from her background to shape her work with college students.

Seana has a B.A. in Anthropology and Asian Studies from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She started her career teaching English as a Second Language in Shanghai, China where she lived and worked for five years. She worked with students of all ages on linguistic and cultural fluency while developing her commitment to global engagement. This commitment led to her transition to higher education where she can assist students pursuing an education in the United States as a PDSO and RO. She is passionate about promoting an inclusive worldview and celebrating students’ stories.

In her personal life, she enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with family.

Dominic has an M.S. in Higher Education Administration and a B.A. in Integrated Marketing and Communication from Duquesne University. Dominic started his career in Residence Life at Duquesne University and found a passion for student support and educational programming. He is passionate about advocating for marginalized populations. Dominic enjoys the ability to educate others in a judgement-free environment. In his free time, he enjoys crocheting, hiking, and spending time with his family.

Women's & Pride Centers

Alaina, an SRU alum, is excited to be pursing her Master of Social Work and working this year in OIE as the Women’s & Pride Center Graduate Assistant. She is passionate about creating a space where everyone feels recognized, supported, and empowered to reach their fullest potential while at SRU.

As the Graduate Assistant for the Women’s & Pride Center, Alaina supports the development and implementation of educational programs and events focused on gender and sexuality. This includes advising students, mentoring peer leaders, and facilitating inclusive programming and resources in collaboration with campus partners. She also works with the JumpStart peer mentors as well as Bonner Leaders, offering academic, social, and leadership support. Alaina looks forward to supporting students who stop by the office and helping to foster an inclusive campus environment.

In her free time, Alaina enjoys crocheting, reading, and spending time outdoors with friends and family.

Student Transitions

I am currently pursuing a Master of Education in School Counseling. I am passionate about working with young people from all backgrounds and helping them feel supported as they develop and grow.

As the Graduate Assistant for Student Transitions, I assist in overseeing the development and implementation of the Jump Start program. This includes helping to prepare for and execute Jump Start Week in August for the students who take part in the program. Additionally, I supervise peer mentors and their mentees, which involves monitoring students' well-being and getting them connected to resources when necessary. I love working with and supporting students in any way possible.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling, concerts, going on walks, and spending time with family and friends.

Duda Raimundo Joaquim

Global Engagement

Originally from Brazil, Duda is excited to serve as the Graduate Assistant for Global Engagement in the Office for Inclusive Excellence. As an international student and current candidate for a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Duda is passionate about supporting and connecting students from all over the world.

In this role, Duda helps coordinate programs and initiatives that support international students, promote cross-cultural learning, and celebrate the global diversity present at Slippery Rock University. This includes organizing International Education Week events, assisting with the study abroad program by advising and supporting students interested in global experiences, working closely with international student organizations, and creating opportunities for global and domestic students to connect through meaningful engagement.

Outside of work, Duda enjoys playing video games, watching anime, horror movies and YouTube, and also participating in outdoor activities.
