Winter Storm Update

Slippery Rock University will move to remote work and remote instruction on Monday, January 26.
Whereas there have been minimal changes in the weather models, this decision is based upon the National Weather Service's Winter Storm Warning calling for heavy snow, with total accumulations "between 9 and 14 inches," adding "travel could be very difficult to impossible" with hazardous conditions impacting the Monday morning commute.
This change to a remote workday will help ensure the safety and well-being of students, faculty, and staff. It will also provide the best opportunity for the facilities team to most effectively clear walkways and roadways in preparation for a return to campus on Tuesday, January 27.
On Sunday, January 25, most campus buildings will be closed.
The following buildings will be open:
- Aebersold Recreation Center (ARC)
- Dining (visit www.sru.edu/dining for location hours and ordering details)
- Residence Halls
- Smith Student Center
- University Police
On Monday, January 26, most campus buildings will be closed.
The following buildings and services will be open:
- Aebersold Recreation Center (ARC)
- Bailey Library and Technology Helpdesk
- Dining (visit www.sru.edu/dining for location hours and ordering details)
- Residence Halls
- Smith Student Center
- Student Health Center
- University Police
All scheduled events and activities in buildings other than those named above are canceled for Sunday and Monday. Attendees should check with the event or activity host for updates.

The University has plans in place in case of power loss, with additional generators on site for emergency backup power in specific locations.
Essential and Critical employees will report as scheduled throughout the duration of the weather event unless otherwise directed by their immediate supervisors.

Reminder: Beginning at 11:00pm Saturday, all vehicles must be removed from the below parking lots in order to facilitate snow removal:

- Physical Therapy Building Staff and Commuter Lot
- Smith Center Commuter Lot
- Swope Commuter Lot
