Admitted Students Checklist

Your next chapter starts here.

Congratulations on your admission to Slippery Rock University! Whether you're still making your college decision or you've already committed to The Rock, use this checklist to stay on track as you prepare for Fall 2027. Some steps may already be complete, while others will become available throughout the year.

Remember that you can always refer to your Admitted Student Portal for your next steps.

MAKE IT OFFICIAL

Ready to choose SRU? Log in to your Admitted Student Portal to submit your Reply to Offer and enrollment deposit. Your deposit secures your place in the incoming class and unlocks important next steps.

May 1 is SRU's commitment deadline, but we encourage you to deposit as soon as you're ready so you can get started on housing, orientation, and other enrollment steps.

COMPLETE THE FAFSA

Complete the 2027–28 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and add Slippery Rock University (school code: 003327).

Financial aid packages begin in late November for accepted students who have completed the FAFSA. Your offer will help you understand your eligibility for federal and state grants, student loans, work-study, and other aid.

EXPLORE SCHOLARSHIPS

Once you submit your enrollment deposit, your SRU email account will be created within two business days. Follow the instructions sent to you to activate your account.

Your SRU email becomes one of the primary ways the University communicates with you, so check it regularly for important information about Housing, Orientation, financial aid, and your transition to SRU.

REGISTER FOR ORIENTATION

Orientation registration opens in December for deposited students. Orientation is mandatory for all new first-year students and gives you an opportunity to connect with faculty, learn about campus resources, and prepare academically for your first semester.

We begin preparing your first-semester course schedule when you register for Orientation, regardless of which Orientation date you select, so don't wait to get a date on your calendar!

Visit the Orientation tab for program dates, registration information, and ways to prepare.

APPLY FOR HOUSING

The Housing Application opens in December for deposited students.

First-year students are generally required to live on campus for two years unless they live within 60 miles and commute from their permanent address. Students planning to live on campus should complete the Housing Application early, as room assignments are based on the order completed applications are received.

Start exploring campus living now! Visit our Housing website to explore residence halls and room styles, learn what to bring, review housing resources, and get a better idea of what living at The Rock is like.

SEND YOUR COLLEGE CREDITS & AP SCORES

Have AP, IB, A-Level, College in High School, or Dual Enrollment credit? Make sure SRU receives the appropriate official scores or transcripts so your earned credit can be evaluated and considered as your first-semester schedule is prepared.

AP exam scores must come directly from College Board, while official transcripts for College in High School and Dual Enrollment coursework must come directly from the participating college or university.

PREPARE FOR YOUR FIRST-SEMESTER SCHEDULE

For your first semester at SRU, we'll build your initial course schedule for you based on your major and academic requirements.

Your schedule may include Critical Writing, FYRST Seminar, introductory courses for your major, and other requirements designed to keep you on track toward your degree. During Orientation, you'll meet with a faculty adviser from your academic department to discuss your academic plan and first-semester schedule.

SEND YOUR FINAL HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT

After you graduate, ask your high school to send an official final transcript showing your graduation date to the Office of Admissions.

We'll need your final transcript to complete your enrollment record before you begin at SRU.

COMPLETE YOUR HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

Before beginning your first semester, complete the required Health History information through the Student Health Portal.

Be sure to review Student Health Services information for additional health requirements and resources before arriving on campus.

REVIEW YOUR BILL & PAYMENT OPTIONS

Fall semester bills become available about one month from the start of the semester. Once available, review your bill via mySRU to understand your charges, applied financial aid, remaining balance, and payment options.

Be sure to review your account and take care of any remaining requirements by the University's payment deadline.

GET READY FOR THE ROCK

As August approaches, keep checking your SRU email for information about move-in, Week of Welcome, and the start of classes.

Then, pack your bags, grab your SRU gear, and get ready — your first semester at The Rock is almost here!
